AMPB technical team continues to respond to community territorial agenda in the context of a pandemic

May 20, 2021 | News

The Technical Secretariat of the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests (AMPB) and the technical teams of the semi-autonomous units have strengthened their efforts to support the region’s land rights agenda and continue to coordinate efforts virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since March 2019, the technical team has been in constant communication and has incorporated the use of the Zoom platform to continue in internal coordination, as well as with member organizations and local, national, regional and global allies. This virtual management has allowed the uninterrupted monitoring of the territorial agenda and progress in the consolidation of strategic alliances.

Strengthened teams

On May 11, 2021, the first general virtual meeting was held with all the new members of the technical team, led by the Coordinator of the AMPB, Levi Sucre.

In recent months, the Mesoamerican School of Leadership has added a communication manager (Catalina Trejos) and a technical and monitoring facilitator (Jorge Iran Vásquez) to its team. In the field, two facilitators joined to start the training process in Gunayala, Panama. For its part, the Coordinator of Territorial Women Leaders of Mesoamerica welcomed a communication officer (Tamara Espinoza).

The Mesoamerican Territorial Fund now has a designated technical officer (Natalia Díaz). The AMPB Technical Secretariat added a liaison officer to support the global and regional agenda (Denisse Sevilla).
The AMPB is a space for coordination and exchange of territorial authorities that administer or influence the main forest masses of Mesoamerica. The technical teams respond to this organizational nature, led by elected authorities in territorial processes.
