Del 22 al 28 de septiembre, líderes y lideresas de la Alianza Mesoamericana de Pueblos y Bosques (AMPB) estarán presentes en la Semana del Clima en Nueva York (SCNY), representando a nuestras 10 organizaciones miembro. Este evento global es una plataforma clave para amplificar nuestras voces y avanzar en temas cruciales como el financiamiento directo, los mercados de carbono, los derechos territoriales y la equidad de género. Nuestra meta es clara: promover una transición justa y sostenible hacia un futuro resiliente al cambio climático en Mesoamérica, con especial énfasis en el reconocimiento y fortalecimiento de nuestras comunidades territoriales por medio de la inversión territorial directa.

SCNY Global Context

Climate Week New York is the largest annual event dedicated to climate action, bringing together more than 600 activities across the city, both in-person and hybrid. Organized by Climate Group, in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly, SCNY 2024 will focus on the urgency of tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency, among other topics. Growing investment in clean energy and net zero technologies sets the tone as the world faces record temperatures, surpassing the 1.5°C mark by 2024.

Innovation with Roots: The Mesoamerican Territorial Fund (FTM)

Our Mesoamerican Territorial Fund (FTM) will play a crucial role in this space. will play a crucial role in this space, making visible the importance of direct investments in key territories of Mesoamerica, with a focus on rights, inclusive governance and transparency. The FTM not only focuses on channeling resources, but also accompanies organizations in the formulation and implementation of culturally relevant projects, promoting sustainability beyond the life of the projects.

Nuestra delegación de la AMPB buscará consolidar alianzas estratégicas y participar en encuentros bilaterales con entidades clave como el FCLP, la Secretaría de ART, EMERGENT, ministros de gobiernos como Reino Unido y Noruega, y representantes de Naciones Unidas. Estas reuniones serán esenciales para abrir nuevas líneas de financiamiento y fortalecer la agenda de bosques, biodiversidad, derechos indígenas y cambio climático.
