Una delegación de líderes y lideresas de la Alianza Mesoamericana de Pueblos y Bosques (AMPB) participará activamente, del 17 al 23 de septiembre, en la decimoquinta edición de la Semana del Clima de Nueva York (Climate Week NYC) en el marco del 78º periodo de sesiones de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas. Durante esta semana, uniremos nuestras voces y esfuerzos para impulsar la acción climática global. En estos espacios de intercambio, exploraremos, discutiremos y promoveremos soluciones integrales para abordar los desafíos cruciales relacionados con los derechos y los mercados de carbono, las presiones territoriales, la agricultura regenerativa, el financiamiento territorial directo y la incorporación de los conocimientos tradicionales de la juventud.
As part of the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (AGCT), we will conduct working sessions with donors and partner organizations. Together with our four sister organizations that make up the GATCA, including the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB), Alliance of Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (AMAN), and the Network of Indigenous and Local Peoples for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC), with whom we have a clear mission: To prioritize our voices in climate talks, advocate for policies that respect our traditional knowledge, protect our rights, address violence on our lands, and demand increased funding for our communities.
For the Mesoamerican Forest Peoples' Alliance, this week represents a fundamental meeting point to highlight our messages, agreements and negotiations with key actors and entities. Our goal is to promote a just and sustainable transition to a climate resilient future in Mesoamerica to build a safer and more resilient future for generations to come, with a focus on the recognition of territorial communities.

Our Goals
- Urge government leaders, businesses and organizations to adopt more ambitious policies to reduce carbon emissions and support regenerative agricultural practices.
- Foster new alliances among diverse actors to share knowledge and resources in the fight against climate challenges in Mesoamerica.
- Increase public awareness of the urgency of climate action in Mesoamerica through events and conferences.
- Influence the strengthening of the policy and regulatory framework related to carbon rights and markets, regenerative agriculture and direct territorial financing in Mesoamerica.
