Representatives of the Mesoamerican Alliance of People and Forests (AMPB) will be participating during this week in the Ordinary Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Forest and Farm Facility of the FAO.

The AMBP is member of this Committee and is represented by Levi Sucre, who is also representative of the Bri Bri-Cabecar Indigenous Network of Costa Rica (RIBCA), organization that is also member of the AMPB.

Among the agenda of the AMPB in Rome there are two important activities, the first, on February 18th, during the Meeting of Donor Support Group, and the 19th in the meeting of the Steering Committee of FFF.

The goal of the AMPB in those meetings is to integrate the communitary agenda, based in the land rights recognition and forestry governance. Also the AMPB will look to gain support for its advocacy roadmap to the COP21, to be held in Paris, France.

This roadmap includes the realization of four regional precongress (Indonesia, Congo, Cuenca Amazónica, and Mesoamérica), and also a global precongress, to be held in Durban South Africa.

The FFF is a partnership launched in September 2012 between FAO, IIED and IUCN. Its Steering Committee is formed by members affiliated with forest producer, community forestry, indigenous peoples’ organizations, international research community, business development service provider organization, private sector, government, and donors.
